OUR MISSION

Habitat for Humanity of Indiana supports the work of the 71 Habitat affiliates located throughout the state of Indiana. The state support organization's mission is to assist local affiliates with communications advocacy, training, fund raising, volunteer recruitment, administration of statewide grants, and the promotion of a high level of professionalism among affiliates throughout the state.

Habitat for Humanity of Indiana provides vital communications links among local affiliates and between affiliates in Indiana and the worldwide network of Habitat for Humanity affiliates operating in all 50 states and in over 100 foreign countries. Through our website, we also link local affiliates with potential donors and with families and individuals seeking affordable homeownership opportunities.

Habitat for Humanity of Indiana advocates on behalf of local affiliates for affordable housing programs at the state and national level. We also help focus the energy and commitment of the hundreds of Habitat board and staff members and thousands of Habitat volunteers throughout the state seeking to increase the public’s awareness of the need for more affordable housing units. The role of our state organization is to provide a voice for people interested in addressing affordable housing issues and a forum for discussion among Habitat affiliates and between Habitat and other affordable housing providers at the local, state and national level.

Habitat for Humanity of Indiana serves as a catalyst for change at the local affiliate level by providing access to training workshops, conferences and other events that will help the staff, boards and volunteers of local affiliates gain necessary skills and knowledge to better carry out their programs and to grow in their capacity to fully utilize both the financial and human resources that are available to them as they seek to address the need for affordable housing in their communities. The state organization provides a statewide conference and workshop once each year that is open to all Habitat staff, board members and volunteers. It also organizes and conducts smaller meetings and training workshops within the eight geographic cluster areas of the state. Each cluster group meets two to three times a year.

Habitat for Humanity of Indiana seeks to empower and support local affiliates by providing access to funding and material donations and by providing affiliates with access to more than 35 National Service volunteer through its statewide AmeriCorps program each year.

OUR VISION
Our vision is that all Indiana affiliates be healthy – organizationally, financially and spiritually – with the ability and capacity to eliminate poverty housing from their communities.
