Dan has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for three and a half years and currently serves as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana. Prior to coming to Habitat, Dan was the Mayor of Crown Point, Indiana from 2003 until 2007 and is a retired Service Executive from AT&T. Dan is also a real estate broker and owns a property management company. He sits on the boards of Regional Mental Health & Geminus Corporations and is the President of the Lake County Substance Abuse Council.
Tom has served as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County for the past four years. Prior to becoming Executive Director, Tom served as a Board member for the Elkhart affiliate for nine years, including two years as Board President. Prior to his work with Habitat, Tom worked in marketing and sales
management positions in the fluid power industry with companies such as NIBCO and Parker Hannifin. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Alan Thorup, Secretary
Alan currently serves as the Executive Director of the Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association and Greater Indianapolis Mortgage Bankers Association. He has been a Board member with Habitat Indiana since July 2009. Alan has 24 years of direct mortgage lending experience in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana and is responsible for the personal origination of over 1,600 loans. Alan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University.
Rhett serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County. Prior to joining Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County, he served as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County and has also served as Executive Director of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Indiana. Rhett also has extensive marketing, sales and public relations experience with a number of professional sports organizations. He graduated from Denison University and is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management at IUPUI.
Don has been the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Indiana for three years. Don has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for 16 years, first as a board member for DeKalb County Habitat and then as the Executive Director of Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity. He was also a Global Village team leader for two years. Don spent 35 years with American Electric Power as a Transmission Engineer, Section Superintendent, Department Manager and Region Executive. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio State/Tri-State.
Jim has been the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County since March of 2009. He joined the Board of Habitat Indiana in 2011. Prior to coming to Habitat, Jim served for eight years as the Senior Pastor of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Elkhart, Indiana. Jim has an undergraduate degree in Theological/Historical Studies and an MBA in Nonprofit Management.
Rick is currently the CEO for the Indiana Builders Association, a trade association representing over 3,000 member companies across the state. He has been a Board member with Habitat Indiana since 2010. Rick previously worked as the Associate Director of the Indiana Petroleum Council and Ohio Petroleum Council and for the Indiana Builders Association for six years as the Association Services Director and Governmental Affairs Director. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Butler University.
Mark currently serves as the Assistant Vice President, CRA/Community Relations Officer with 1st Source Bank. He has been involved with Habitat in various capacities since 1998 having served on a committee with the Greater Indianapolis affiliate and joined the Board of Habitat Indiana in 2011. Mark has been in banking for more than 25 years and a CRA officer at several financial institutions over the past 14 years including Union Federal Bank of Indianapolis, Irwin Union Bank, Old National Bank and 1st Source Bank. Mark is a graduate of Butler University.
Scott is a senior associate in the Business Group at Ice Miller LLP. He began volunteering with Habitat in 2008 and has organized annual build days for his company with the Greater Indianapolis affiliate. Scott also volunteers regularly with the Boone County affiliate. At Ice Miller LLP, Scott assists clients with equity and debt financing transactions. He has provided legal counsel on a variety of transactions ranging from raising equity funding from angel investors and venture capitalists and securing debt financing from financial institutions. Scott graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and earned his Juris Doctor from the DePaul University, School of Law.
Mark currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Finance and Research with the Indiana Association of Realtors. Mark reports on real estate market conditions, investigates and evaluates market trends, and speaks to groups throughout the state on issues ranging from the property tax to how a community’s quality of life can create and enhance economic development. Previously, Mark was Research Director at the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute and is a former Deputy Budget Director for the State of Indiana. Mark joined the Board of Habitat Indiana this year and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs and a Masters of Public Finance from Indiana University.
